Qualified Surgeons; In Mexico, a surgeon can claim to be "qualified" or "certified", but in reality, it is very difficult for you to find out what that actually means, and most of the time these are less qualified surgeons offering lower prices. Long-term support; You may see a surgeon for a pre-operative consultation and then again on the day after, but once the surgery is over you are likely to be on your own, even if complications arise, lacking long-term support. Certified sanitary surgical facilities; While a hospital website may show pictures of clean, polished, sterile setting, the reality is likely different. FDA Approved; Many unregulated clinics operating in Mexico do not use US FDA approved surgical tools and materials. For example, titanium bariatric surgical staples cost over $3,000 USD. To offer cheap surgeries, unregulated clinics often use veterinary supplies and stainless steel staples from China.
