Dr. Liza Maria Pompa Gonzalez is the author of "HOW MUCH DOES YOUR LIFE WEIGH?”, A book that was created with the intention to develop a manual to organize the management of patients with obesity. This manual Provides managed care, that’s streamlined and guided by the patient's own initiative, knowing the next step at all times.
With the help of her sister, Lorena Pompa (RIP), Dr. Pompa initiated this project, writing a paper which referred exclusively to bariatric surgery. Then, questioned the fact that Mexico was declared the most obese country in the world, and why most patients do not seek medical help before resorting to surgery.
These reasons and concern over the alarming obesity figures of Baja California, made Dr. Pompa broaden the perspective of its publication. It is dedicated to the general population, and talks about the basics, statistics, causes, symptoms, complications and treatment options for all ages that can occur due to being overweight and having obesity from childhood to adulthood, to inform, raise awareness and provide assistance to our people.
The book has cartoons for parents to show the principles of HOW MUCH DOES YOUR LIFE WEIGH? to their children, and to make them fun and educational.
The idea of the cartoon characters were created by Dr. Pompa characterizing her own person and some of her dearest friends and family to be the stars of the publication.
100% of sales of the book are donated to the LIMARP Foundation for surgeries of morbidly obese patients with limited resources, where the surgery is considered their last chance at life.
