What to Expect

Day Two

Recovery and discharge (Gastric Band patients and Gastric Plication), First day of hospitalization (Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass and Duodenal Switch patients)

Gastric Band Patients

The day after the gastric band is placed, the patient recovers almost completely, and is walking and has bathed. The patient starts a clear liquid diet, and after the last consultation with the specialist in postoperative follow-up care, the patient is discharged from the hospital and taken to the hotel in the afternoon (if they are foreigners). Local patients can go home.

If traveling abroad or within the country, we recommend a further recovery period of 24 hours in the Grand Hotel to relax, enjoy the view of the luxury area of Tijuana next to the Golf course of the Tijuana Country Club. You can enjoy broths and juices that are appropriate for your nutritional plan in the restaurants of the Grand Hotel.

Gastric sleeve, gastric bypass and duodenal switch patients.

It's your first day of recovery. The two most important things you should do during the first 24 hours after the surgery is to concentrate on your breathing therapy and move. You will be accompanied at all times by the LIMARP team. They will give you shaved ice all day and introduce liquids through an IV.

Dr. Pompa will be making rounds to check on you.
